The beach chairs are folded up, the kiddos are back at school, and there’s a chill in the evening air.

What are you waiting for?

A new season is upon us, and there’s no better time or reason, to get organized.

Here are 3 spaces (where you likely are anyway) you can tackle right now.

1. YOUR CLOSET.  Take a look.  As you begin to dig out those jeans, booties and sweaters, look through your summer clothes, shoes and accessories that never saw daylight this season.  If they seem to show you more dust than dazzle, it’s time to edit.  Whether they don’t fit you anymore, they don’t flatter you or they just don’t make your daily cut, it’s time to cut them from your closet. It’s the perfect time to purge.  Why keep them hanging around (pun intended) if they’re just taking up space in your closet?

Consider this… the closet is a metaphor for your life…make room for what matters.

2. THE PANTRY.  As you’re pulling from the pantry, packing snacks and lunches for the kiddos, check the expiration dates around you.  Nothing lasts forever, and shelf life is real. You don’t have to overhaul your whole pantry (although if you’re so inclined, you know I totally support you!), just weed out what you don’t use any longer, what’s been opened too long or what’s expired. With the excess gone, you’ll be able to see what you have, what you use and what you’ll need next at the grocery store.

More space creates less waste (you don’t overbuy or duplicate what you already have, because you’ll be able to see what you have).

3. SUPPLY CLOSET. Maybe it’s in your home office, maybe it’s in the play room, maybe it’s simply a shelf in a coat closet, wherever it is…go there.  Explore, edit. While you’re digging for this year’s school supplies (and perhaps through last year’s leftovers), take everything out and only put back when you think you and the kiddos will actually use…in this lifetime.  If you won’t use it, don’t store it.  Got it?  Detect a pattern here?

The more space you create, the more you can see what you have, what you use, what’s worth being in your home.

Because you know what Savvy says, right?  If there’s calm around you, there’s calm inside you.

We can’t stop the seasons from changing, but you can. It’s time to get Savvy, one space at at time!

And remember, we love to see what you do with your space.  Take a pic, share it, tag us #savvyspacestyle
